The VMS pilot program
From home to work.
And back to possibility.
A transportation initiative with a clear goal: close the gap between veterans and the workplaces that help them move forward.
Illustrative transportation sceneA purpose worth pursuing
Transportation.
Employment. Dignity.
The idea for a rideshare program originated in 2017 with Charles Franklin, an Army veteran who was then working as a community employment coordinator for the homeless. The pandemic disrupted the program, leaving communities without work transportation services.
Veterans Mobility Services is a non-emergency transportation initiative of The Houston Launch Pad. The pilot program’s goal is to connect veterans with transportation from home to work and back, helping close the transportation gap for riders and employers.
The Houston Launch Pad’s vision is a regional mobility management program that improves coordination for people who lack transportation to work and home.
